Draft Proposal: WAGDIE in Battle (Game)

:skull: Abstract - Two or three sentences that summarizes the proposal.

WAGDIE in Battle will be an off-chain UI based game using on-chain assets. This will include 1v1 β€œBattles”, guild managment, tournaments with betting and prizes on-chain, PvE and a page for each WAGDIE to post updates on their own story progress.

β€Ž

:skull: Motivation - A statement on why the WAGDIE Community should implement the proposal

Currently the barrier of entry is a big high to WAGDIE so having an easy to understand and follow game along with story telling it will be a lot easier to show the rest of the NFT community what we’re about.

Using WAGDIE in Battle we can also interact together better and follow each others stories by following those characters.

β€Ž

:skull: Rationale - An explanation of how the proposal aligns with the WAGDIE Community’s mission and guiding values.

WAGDIE In Battle will have playable storylines created by your own character, post your updates on your characters page, join guilds, fight others or even together. I feel this fits exactly what the community enjoys and fits the theme too.

β€Ž

:skull: Specifications - A detailed breakdown of the platforms and technologies that will be used.

This will be a website that is powered by a server that handles all the game logic along with interactions on-chain where needed. I will have a database that stores all the games information.

Currently as it stands all assets owned by the player would never be touched and only be used a proof of ownership to play the game. If we wanted to add death mechanics or on-chain betting that would have to change but currently assets will be 100% safe.

β€Ž

:skull: Steps to Implement - The steps to implement the proposal, including associated costs, labor, and other resources for each step where applicable.

Currently I am building the base of this project already and have posted many updates on my twitter https://twitter.com/_0xG__

I will be handling the frontend, backend, solidity and database myself as I’m most comfortable doing that so I can move at a fast pace and not depend on other work to be completed. As I progress to a better state I plan to release a base version that I will continually expand upon as I go with frequent updates and suggestions that the community make.

β€Ž

:skull: Timeline - Relevant timing details, including but not limited to start date, milestones, and completion dates.

As more thought has been put in to each feature I’d expect a fully featured beta version to be live in 8-12 weeks although the base game with tournaments, PvP, PvM and renaming your character should be done in that 4-6 weeks with a beta even sooner.

:skull: Overal Cost - The total cost to implement the proposal (in ETH).

10k USDC

Wallet: 0x82947b9Fe407c0ac262196a6aBB1266256D4b2c1

This game will be created regardless of the outcome of this proposal, the only thing that will be different will be the speed and amount of features. I currently work as a full time web 3 developer and have many projects I work with so my time is super limited.

If someone was to come to me with this idea I’d quote them $20-25k because it’s a massive massive task but since I also would love to contribute I’ll be able to grind and work on this with degenerate work hours and continuous updates for 10k USDC.

Of course these things take a lot of work and I’ve already put in well over a hundred hours.

  • PvP System.
  • Tournaments.
  • Betting.
  • Community funded NFT shop paid with in-game currency.

  • Feed page of all characters that you follow.
  • Guild management system.
  • Guild fights.
  • Guild specific missions
  • Leaderboard

  • Rename your WAGDIE with your lore name.

If Proposal Fails

  • PvE System.
  • PvP System (Only 1v1s)
  • Guild management system (Limited features).
  • Leaderboard
  • Level system for every WAGDIE
  • Rename your WAGDIE with your lore name.

Payment plan.

50% after proposal passes

25% after these features are live

  • PvE System.
  • PvP System.
  • Tournaments.
  • Betting.
  • Leaderboard
  • Level system for every WAGDIE
  • Rename your WAGDIE with your lore name.

Final 25% after these features are live

  • Community funded NFT shop paid with in-game currency.
  • Page for every wagdie to post updates to your own personal story.
  • Feed page of all characters that you follow.
  • Guild management system.
  • Guild fights.
  • Guild specific missions

If the community wants any more specific features or super major changes to existing features we will likely require another proposal to help fund that within reason of course.

After Development
If a situation arises where I am either unable to or no longer wanted to develop or maintain WAGDIE in Battle I will release the source code of everything to the community.

The situations where this would happen are:

  1. I no longer have time to develop additional features past this proposal features without funding.

  2. A proposal passes that requires me ceasing all development and handing over the source code (I’d no longer work on it after this)

  3. The price I quote for development work is deemed too high (unlikely, I like wagdie and WAGDIE in Battle is already being done at a huge discount) and the community wants to hire a new developer.

Payment Voting
If a client came to me asking me to develop something to this scale I’d ask maybe $35k and I’ve seen members of the community acknowledge that my price is super cheap. If possible I’d like to have a vote on how much to allocate to this as in.

  1. $10k
  2. $12.5k
  3. $15k

This is completely optional and the only reason I add this is because I do need to pay rent and allocate my time properly among projects I’m working on. If I’m paid a slightly higher amount I’m able to justify allocating this project more which I would be super happy to do!

Even at the highest $15k that is less than 9% of the total treasury for all of the features above is extremely reasonable in my opinion and will be a massive driving force to lowering the barrier of entry and providing β€œutility” outside of the story and lore.

Safety audits
Completly on board with any audits, there is currently a proposal to set up auditors for community made projects which I’ve been nominated for also so I am fine with helping prove safety of any features.

After participating in and witnessing the Tournament of Death + the amazing commentary by @KingOffling & @josiah.peace I’ve got a taste for the future of this and agree that it’s one way we could make WAGDIE more accessible and entertaining for all types β€” especially those who may not have time/availability to keep up with the lore.

Some things I recommend are the battles being WAGDIE token-gated for participation, but the prizes being NFTs within as well as outside the collection and considering multiple currencies/chains for prizes (I.e. apecoin, sol, etc.)

& of course building a trust-less and transparent escrow system where both parties are aware what they are betting / leveraging ahead of time, including options to burn upon death (clear stakes) and maybe even some simple UI stuff alerting users β€œyou are about to risk __ are you sure you wish to continue” before confirming/signing transactions to enter.

Furthermore, before this gets to an official draft stage, I encourage constructive feedback. Poking of holes and gathering of all necessary data/information that would mitigate questions or doubt.

I imagine we have more than enough volunteers willing to beta-test. That part is easy.

I also imagine there may be others who can pool further technical resources and assistance if that helps. QA is important.

I added some images to the proposal, as of now all the visual stuff is posted on my twitter. The last week or so I’ve been focusing on other projects and fixing up some server side code for WAGDIE in Battle. I’ll be posting some new stuff on there this week and will 100% be posting a beta with super basic features (Level up system, PvE battle, Character naming)

I think this project will further improve the engagement though story telling with gaming, and enhance the publicity as a community and project. I love it.

This is quality work. This is work at a discount in my opinion,. I fully support this initiative

Proposal is well thought out and at a reasonable price. You’ve got my vote.

Appreciate the honesty of this statement, you’ve clearly demonstrated through the proposal and work done so far that you align with the project’s core values.

I’d support this proposal and the investment requested as I believe that not only the game, but 0xG’s continued motivation and involve will benefit all.

One suggestion @Dontfeedthewolf is that proposal monetary requests should be denominated in USDC, given that is the treasury base. If ETH suddenly doubled in value this would eat a bigger % than currently. I assume @0xG you had something like $10k in mind?

Excellent point and love this attention to detail and observation. As our treasury funds are currently USDC and ETH is volatile.

Before being made final we should have @0xG clarify the USD value

Excellent proposal and thank you for your tremendous contributions.

I would suggest establishing more structure for the proposed funding. Would you be open to breaking down the proposal into sections with payout occurring at each milestone? For transparency, possibly forecasting developer hours per milestone may be helpful as well.

I have no doubt in your capabilities and personally have no issue with funding 8 ETH towards your wallet and full confidence in a compelling product being returned to us within an agreed timeline. I simply think that establishing a precedent is important. In addition, I believe a more detailed overview with contractual milestones will help to garner support.

I think this is a fantastic idea and an excellent use of funds. I will echo what @hersilence.eth said about a recurring payout since I also believe it will set a proper precedent for future proposals. I also believe that the cost of the proposal should be displayed in FIAT currency because of the fact that the treasury funds are in USDC, and also because it will give a clearer picture of how much you are asking for.

Loving where this is going.

@hersilence.eth milestone payout program is a great way to layout the whole project for better understanding of the development process.

The style/art direction is on point, strong nostalgic vibes.
Adding SFX would be awesome.

Great job  you have my vote.

This is great stuff! Also fight me at wagdie.app (if you haven’t registered, go register) :))))))

Just edited my post to use USDC instead of ETH!

I think this is a good idea. What I would like is half of the funds be given up front and I use that $5k to DCA into floor wagdies and once that $5k runs out I send all the wagdies to the community wallet and get the other $5k in USDC sent to me for personal use. Based on the amount of wagdies I can accumulate I’ll assign each task with a set amount of wagdies to be released per completion.

Although it’s a bit complicated my initial plan was to use half to buy wagdies at this super cheap price and the other half would straight to my bank.

Let me know if this is a reasonable request!

I think any kind of trade funding proposal
should be it’s own separate thing.

Participants thus far seem more than willing to finance the game. Opening up a discussion of trading or diversifying the funds into other assets is a can of worms.

I recommend sticking to what is needed for the game and USD. If we get into trade discussions or other asset accumulations we may find ourselves losing context of the original proposal.

Understood, just offering an alternative if people aren’t comfortable financing the game fully!
